4 star French fries. My prime rib French dip sandwich was mediocre at best. My mom's chicken club sandwich she only age half of. Salad was wilted. French fries however were some of the better we have ever had. We have been going to to this restaurant for over 20 years. It used to be better or maybe yesterday was an off day.
Good food and service. Beautiful setting with views across Lake Lure. Reasonable prices in the downstairs bar and grill. Somewhat limited parking access. Outdoor dining option.
I had the BBQ plate which was very good. My husband had the fish sandwich. He said it was good but the roll was much bigger than the fish. We ordered appetizer of spinach artichoke dip. Came with plenty of chips could have a bit more of the dip versus the amount of chips served with it. We sat outside visiting friends I haven't seen in years and we closed the place. Staff was very nice and told us not to rush as they had to clean up inside. They made sure our drinks were full before going inside to clean. Great service. This was my first visit and I would go back if I was in the area again.
Food was good, atmosphere was very nice, the employees hustle and work hard. Pleasant place for a beer and an awesome burger... coming back in the spring.
Larkin’s on the Lake is a great place to enjoy along Lake Lure! It was our first stop as we rolled into town and a great way to kickoff our trip. I had the grilled chicken avocado sandwich and it was delicious! I had a side of sweet potatoes, served with this amazing orange marmalade sauce. I’ve never tried anything like that before. It did take a few minutes for us to get seated, which I thing others have mentioned on their reviews, but it did seem like it was a little on the busy side.
